Climate Activism in the Caribbean
Description
Join a 6 months intensive program with studies, courses and actions to make the small island nation of St. Vincent Climate Compliant.
The standing action conference started in 2012 and will run till 2021. A small group of teachers and students from Richmond Vale Academy will together with a big group of Vincentians make our island and people ready for climate change.
We have cleaned up 20 ton of trash from rivers and beaches, planted 25,000 trees, set up 2 model gardens, produced 20 TV and Radio Programs and taught 2000 people face to face.
The Richmond Vale Academy is a model school and farm on the island. We try to grow and produce our own food, mostly organic. Through research, creation and implementation of projects in nearby villages, promotion, and by example, students will work to prepare the people of the Caribbean for the dangers of Global Warming.
Participants will also experience community living, cooking, cleaning, harvesting food, garden farming, building furniture, and other skills needed to be a self-sufficient leader who can do anything they put their mind to. In the end, the program will train students to be environmental activists that are able to make a stand for the future of this world.
There's no special requirements but you should be open-minded and be ready to work!
Start March, July or November.
