Description
Attractive pair of vintage art deco upholstered fireside armchairs for reupholstery.
An attractive pair of art deco armchairs for reupholstery. We date these armchairs to around the first half of the 20th century.
The chairs sit on four later added ball castors.
The armrests continue straight up from the front to meet the backrest.
The backrests slope slightly backward with angular top corners. The backrests are well padded and sprung.
The deep seat bases are well padded and sprung.
The front of the chairs have an angled front with a lower wooden rail, this rail extends up the front of the armrests and there are two splayed feet at the front just above the castors. There are decorative tassels attached to the front of the armrests.
The chairs have been upholstered in a dark pastel coloured material with an art deco pattern. The material is original to the chairs and is showing some signs of wear including some marks, scuffs and mellowing to the material.
The armchairs have a height of 33" (84cm), an overall width of 36" (92cm) and an overall depth of 38" (96cm). They have a backrest height of 23" (59cm), a seat height of 14" (36cm), a seat width of 19" (48cm) and a seat depth of 24" (61cm).
This attractive pair of art deco armchairs remain in a solid condition. There is some bunching of the padding on the top of the armrests and the seat base springs are pushing through the bottom. One of the undersides of a chair has been reinforced with a board.
This remains a very stylish and elegant pair of art deco fireside armchairs. They are very comfortable and supportive to sit on and will continue to provide rest and relaxation for many years to come.
